Want to stimulate your child’s brain development?  Music training is possibly one answer.  According to researchers from MIT, Harvard and Beijing University, learning music at a very young age was linked with brain neural maturation.  Specifically, in the brain regions responsible for language and executive function in adulthood.  A young age meaning those children who started learning to play an instrument before age 7.  Because brain maturation peaks at age 7, according to these researchers, the earlier your child starts learning an instrument, the more potential for greater change and brain maturation.  Their results indicated strengthened brain regions related to executive function, language, auditory processing and self-awareness.  Furthermore, intense training over time has been shown to change brain structure.
