The weekend is here and with so many activities to choose from, KidTrail has made it easier with a list of fun curated events for kids and families in Chicago. Whether you are looking for a cultural event such as the Neighborhoods of the World festival at Navy Pier or a kid’s concert such as the Sunday Kids Concert at Beat Kitchen, this list has got you covered. FRIDAY MARCH 11, 2016

Mathemania at Navy Pier

What: Throughout March and April every day at 11:15 am and 2:15 pm, the museum will offer creative approaches to teaching and reinforcing math concepts for preschool to school-aged children, such as using stamps to make a pattern, counting and measuring ingredients to make play dough, learning the basic of fractions with the help of a giant pizza pie, or testing which shapes fly the farthest using a wind machine.

FREE Sing Along with Neeleo

What: Sing along with Neeleeo delights young audiences with silly songs and tall tales every Wednesday and Friday at 9:15 and 10 a.m. at the Main Barn in Lincoln Park Zoo’s Farm-in-the-Zoo. Join Neeleeo as he performs original songs while the wee ones dance and sing along. This joyful jamboree features animal songs and dances for children ages 6 and younger accompanied by a caregiver.

Mom & Tot Bowling

What: Pinstripes has reserved a special Mom and Tot bowling hours from 10 am to 12 pm. Mom and Tot bowling available at Pinstripes Northbrook, South Barrington, Chicago and Oak Brook. Limit 4 children per adults. Age 12 and under.

Brick by Brick Exhibit at MSI

What: The brick by brick exhibit, developed and created by MSI, will feature a spectacular collection of more than a dozen giant LEGO built engineering marvels, including a 60-foot long Golden Gate Bridge, the International Space Station, Hoover Dam and Roman Coliseum, constructed by LEGO Certified Professional and Chicago native, Adam Reed Tucker. These cool constructions are paired with hands-on building challenges that reinforce principles of engineering, construction and architecture, and encourage creativity!

Date/Time: Friday, March 11, 2016 till end of year.  All day at the museum.

Cost: This exhibit is not included in Museum Entry and requires an additional timed-entry ticket, available in Museum ticket packages.

Kids Eat FREE at Pizzeria Frasco

What: Frasca is a neighborhood Italian restaurant that is very kid friendly.  Their specialties include pizzas, hearty pastas and an extensive selection of wine. The main dining room is open and inviting with comfortable leather banquets, wood tables and large retractable windows, perfect for a cozy winter’s night or family dining. The menu includes a kids menu for dinner and brunch. Kids are treated to crayons and coloring pages to keep them entertained.

Kids Improv Show

What: From superheroes to undersea adventures, princesses to dinosaurs, Storytown takes you on an interactive, fully improvised adventure. The actors use audience suggestions and ideas to create a different story every week. Kids design the setting and help shape the story. The actors, artists and musicians bring it to life. When the possibilities are endless, no two stories are ever the same. Shows are recommended for ages 3-10 and their whole family.

FREE Saturday Jams

What: All ages and levels welcome as we all learn from one another - tunes, instruments, and musical styles. A complement to your kid's music class, the jam is a place to do music each week! Even if you're not currently enrolled, join the music making and experience our Kids' Music Program. All instruments, voices, and levels are welcome and encouraged. FREE Origami Workshop

What: Origami is a fascinating, fun-filled creative activity for children as well as adults. With a minimum of folds and creases, you can transform a flat sheet of paper into a three-dimensional form like a swan, a boat, a flower or even a hat. So, if you're interested in creating animals, dinosaurs, flowers, decorative boxes and various other models, please join us. Every second Saturday of the month in the Conservatory’s Classroom, the Chicago Area Origami Society presents a free drop-in Origami Open House to our visitors. Please drop by, both kids and adults are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Experienced folders welcome as well.

Drop By Family Fun & Crafts

What: Each month on Saturdays and Sundays, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum highlights a nature topic to explore through crafts, experiments and activities. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by and participate. The Nature Museum gives people the opportunity to create an authentic connection to nature and provides a chance to build on its legacy of scientific research and citizen science.

What: Weekend brunch at Shaw’s is a grand affair. Brunch is a decadent multi station experience with shellfish and seafood station, traditional breakfast station, omelet/waffle station, surf and turf station and finally a decadent sweets table. Brunch includes freshly brewed coffee, juice, soda & iced tea. Two Kids eat FREE at Sat/Sun brunch per one adult paid brunch.

Scandinavian Jams

What: It is music at the Museum–wake up your ears, exercise your fingers and play along with us! Musicians and instructors Mary Allsopp and Paul Tyler co-host a Scandinavian Jam at the Swedish American Museum the second Sunday of every month. Join us for an afternoon of traditional roots music starting with instruction from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. New tunes are taught in the call and response “aural” tradition. The afternoon continues with a brief snack, and the jam session kicks off at 2 p.m. Build a repertoire with the unique tones and unusual rhythms of Scandinavia. Recording devices are encouraged. Bring your instruments, request your favorites, share a tune, and play along on what you can, sit back and listen when you want a break.

Kids Concert at Beat Kitchen

What: Uniquely adaptable for a classroom, library, or rock club setting, Future Hits defies the laws of family music. Founded by rock musician, Coach House Sounds organizer and Chicago Public School teacher Matt Baron, Future Hits intertwines rock music with language arts curriculum into tunes that transmit a wealth of relevance embedded in poppy, fuzzy tones.

FREE Neighborhoods of the World, Lithuania

What: Neighborhoods of the world, celebrate Lithuania. Chicago is famous for its ethnic neighborhoods and Navy Pier is proud to honor the city’s Lithuanian community with this cultural celebration for all ages. FREE Day at DuSable Museum of African American History

What: Hutch Chicago offers a take on American classics including appetizers like the Hutch board (cured meats, Wisconsin cheese curds, jumbo corn nuts, house pickles and seasonal garnish), skillet shrimp and tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons. Brunch is daily from 10 AM to 3 PM. It is a warm and inviting place for families with kids in tow.
